Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has hinted at a potential partnership with Samsung to create an "X Phone", while criticising Apple's integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT into its devices.
This comes in the wake of Apple's billion-dollar deal with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its ecosystem, which will be officially announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. The collaboration aims to enhance Siri's functionalities with advanced AI capabilities, making interactions more natural and sophisticated.
The collaboration with Samsung could be for developing an "X Phone" to compete with Apple's iPhone. Speculations have been rife about an "X Phone" manufactured by Samsung with features optimised for the X app, and Starlink integration. Despite co-founding the company, Musk has been a vocal critic of OpenAI, and has expressed concerns about Apple's ability to safeguard user data shared with OpenAI.
Musk's comments on Twitter highlighted his disapproval of the Apple-OpenAI partnership, suggesting that such collaborations could lead to monopolistic control over AI technologies. This move could position Samsung as a significant player in the AI landscape, rivaling Apple's advancements with OpenAI.
