Nothing OS 4.0 introduces an AI Usage Dashboard that lets users track daily and weekly AI model activity, identify the most active LLMs, and manage AI interactions through system settings, with the update rolling out gradually to Nothing smartphones
London-based tech company Nothing has officially rolled out Nothing OS 4.0 (NOS 4.0), its latest operating system update, featuring a refined design language, new multitasking tools, and enhanced privacy features aimed at making smartphones more intuitive and transparent.
The update brings visual improvements across all layers, including reimagined lock screen clocks and standardised interface components for a more seamless user experience. A notable new feature is Extra Dark Mode, an advanced take on the brand’s signature dark aesthetic, designed to be easier on the eyes and more power-efficient in low-light environments.
Multitasking and AI transparency take center stage
Among the functional upgrades, NOS 4.0 introduces Pop-up View, allowing users to open and interact with two floating apps simultaneously. The gesture-based interface lets users swipe up to minimise windows or pull down to expand them into full-screen mode, streamlining multitasking.
In a move toward more responsible AI integration, the OS includes a new AI Usage Dashboard, offering insights into how and when AI models (LLMs) are used. Users can monitor activity trends daily or weekly, view which models are most active, and maintain complete control over AI engagement via system settings.
The NOS 4.0 update will roll out to Nothing smartphones in phases. Users are encouraged to follow official Nothing social channels or visit nothing.community for availability updates.
