The integration connects Paytm Payment Gateway with Anthropic’s Claude through the MCP Connector, enabling authorised businesses to access transaction, refund, settlement and reconciliation information through secure AI-powered prompts.
Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of One 97 Communications Limited, has integrated Paytm Payment Gateway with Anthropic’s Claude through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector.
The integration is designed to give businesses access to authorised payment information through conversational AI prompts, reducing the need to navigate multiple dashboards, reports or application programming interfaces (APIs) for routine payment-related checks.
Through the integration, businesses can access information covering transactions, payment links, refunds, settlements, subscriptions, order status and reconciliation. The capability is aimed at supporting entrepreneurs, finance teams, customer support operations, developers and other business functions that regularly require payment-related information.
For entrepreneurs, the integration can provide greater visibility into collections, while finance teams can use it to access settlement and reconciliation information. Support teams can check payment and refund statuses, while developers can incorporate payment information into AI-enabled workflows.
Secure access for AI-enabled commerce workflows
The integration uses the MCP standard to establish connectivity between Claude and Paytm Payment Gateway APIs. According to PPSL, the framework is intended to allow businesses to bring payment information into AI-driven workflows while maintaining authenticated and merchant-authorised access.
The company said security and access control remain central to the integration. Businesses connect their merchant accounts through secure authentication and retain control over the permissions granted to the AI interface. Payment information is made available only within the scope of authorised access.
Payment execution, refunds and settlement processes continue to be managed through merchant-controlled systems and PPSL's payment infrastructure. This separation is intended to allow businesses to use AI for accessing and interpreting payment information without changing the underlying processes through which financial transactions are executed.
Paytm Payment Gateway spokesperson said, “AI becomes valuable for businesses when it connects securely with real business workflows. This integration helps entrepreneurs, developers and business teams access payment insights faster, with built-in security and authorised access.”
The company said the integration supports its broader focus on AI-enabled payment infrastructure for businesses ranging from MSMEs and startups to larger enterprises and developers.
As businesses increasingly incorporate AI into finance, customer support, reconciliation and commerce operations, the integration is aimed at making payment information more accessible through natural-language interactions while retaining controls around authentication, permissions and payment execution.
