He has been Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Patni Computer Systems Limited since May 2011. Mr. Murthy has been the CEO and President of iGATE Corp. since April 1, 2008. He served as MD of Mascot Systems GmbH. 

He served as CEO of iGATE Global Solutions Ltd. from August 2003 to December 2009. He served as Worldwide Head of Sales and Marketing, and the Head of Communications and the Product Solutions Group of Infosys Technologies Ltd. (Infosys) from 1995 to 2002. He also served as Head - Sales & Marketing of Infosys Technologies Ltd. since 1999, Senior VP & Head - Worldwide Sales from 1996 to May 2000 and Marketing Manager for United States from 1992 to 1996.

In January 2003, Mr. Murthy founded and was a Consultant for Quintant Services Limited, a Business Services Provisioning company with a global services delivery model. He has considerable expertise in developing and managing the growth of organizations. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Vignani Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Murthy served as a Director of Infosys Technologies Ltd. (Infosys) since May 2000. He is an MBA Graduate of the IIM - Ahmedabad, India and received the equivalent of a BS Degree from the IIT, Chennai, India.
