Pixxel Raises $100 Mn
Indian space-tech startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in Series C funding, marking the largest single funding round by an Indian space technology company. The investment highlights growing global confidence in India’s rapidly expanding private space ecosystem.
The round was co-led by Singapore’s Temasek and UK-based Seraphim, with participation from new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment and existing backers Radical Ventures and growX Ventures. The latest investment takes Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million.
Pixxel initially built its reputation around hyperspectral Earth-imaging satellites, which capture information beyond conventional satellite imagery. It is now expanding into a broader planetary infrastructure company combining advanced sensing satellites, satellite manufacturing and its Aurora Earth-intelligence software platform.
The fresh capital will support expansion of the Honeybee satellite constellation, high-resolution optical imaging capabilities and Aurora. This could strengthen applications across agriculture, mining, energy, environmental monitoring, defence and government intelligence, where high-quality Earth-observation data can enable faster decisions.
More importantly, Pixxel’s fundraise signals the maturing of India’s space-tech ecosystem. Government reforms since 2020 have opened the sector to greater private participation, helping hundreds of startups emerge. Large global investors backing an Indian space company at this scale demonstrates that India's space opportunity is shifting from experimental innovation toward commercial infrastructure. Pixxel could become an important example of how India converts its engineering capabilities into globally scalable deep-tech businesses.
