RIM redefines its Retail story

Research In Motion (RIM) announces the debut of its new retail concept in India with the opening of the BlackBerry Premium Store in Delhi. Located at M6, Connaught Place  in the heart of New Delhi, the store will feature the entire BlackBerry product portfolio. Serving as a gateway into the world of BlackBerry, the new format of Store will offer holistic consumer experience on BlackBerry consumer and enterprise services to its consumers.

The BlackBerry Premium Store will provide customers the opportunity to discover the BlackBerry experience within special zones featuring consumer and enterprise applications along with product service and a demo zone to highlight the exceptional performance of BlackBerry smartphones.

"RIM is all about enhancing the experience of its consumers. Now with this new retail format we have a step backward and trying to enhance their buying experience. Now the customer does not have to run locating the service center as these stores would also provide a help desk offering L1, L2 services," informs Krishnadeep Baruah, Director Marketing India, RIM.

The BlackBerry Premium store will be open seven days a week and the company plan to open similar stores in key metro cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Gurgaon in phased manner.

But this does not mean RIM would discontinue with BlackBerry Experience Zones and BlackBerry Experience Stores. Each format of store would have  one each BlackBerry expert to guide the customer while making the buying decision and stuff like transferring of data etc.

Vikrant Badhwar, Proprietor, Beechams India, adds, "The response to the newly announced Curve 9220 has been significant. Just a few hours old in the market, some 50 odd units of Curve 9220 are sold from our counter itself. As a store inaugural offer, we gave away bluetooth free with the Curve 9220."
