Cybersecurity and data protection firm Rubrik has announced a major expansion in its use of AMD EPYC processors across its portfolio, aiming to enhance performance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness for AI-ready cloud deployments. This deepened collaboration positions Rubrik to meet evolving enterprise demands as hybrid cloud adoption and sustainability become central to IT strategy.
Building on a partnership that began in 2018, Rubrik’s move reflects a broader shift among enterprises from traditional on-premises architectures to distributed hybrid environments. According to Rubrik’s 2025 State of Data Security report, 90% of IT leaders now manage hybrid infrastructures. With artificial intelligence and advanced analytics gaining momentum, the demand for secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions is surging—particularly within security-sensitive sectors such as financial services.
“The transition from exclusively on-premises to hybrid environments is one of the most significant transformations in enterprise computing,” said Arvind Nithrakashyap, Rubrik co-founder and CTO. “We are committed to using AMD technology in our future product generations to capitalize on its performance-per-watt advantages and lower total cost of ownership.”
Currently, nearly half of Rubrik’s Cloud Native Protection workloads run on AMD EPYC-powered instances across AWS, Azure, and GCP. By the end of July, Rubrik plans to extend AMD support to its Rubrik Cloud Cluster offering across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), providing enterprises with broader deployment flexibility.
Rubrik also confirmed plans to scale AMD EPYC integration across its hardware partner ecosystem, which includes Dell, HPE, and—soon—Cisco. This will provide customers with a wider range of AMD-powered appliances that offer strong performance, lower energy consumption, and environmental benefits.
“Our customers are asking for AMD-powered solutions to drive down both capex and long-term operational costs,” added Nithrakashyap. “By expanding our AMD footprint, we’re enabling enterprise-grade protection while supporting customer goals for sustainability and efficiency.”
AMD welcomed the expanded collaboration, citing Rubrik’s alignment with energy-efficient, high-performance computing goals. “AMD EPYC processors are designed to deliver exceptional performance with leading energy efficiency,” said Derek Dicker, corporate vice president, Enterprise and HPC Business at AMD. “We’re proud to support Rubrik as it brings these advantages to more organizations.”
The collaboration underscores a shared vision for delivering next-generation data security platforms that balance performance, cost, and environmental responsibility. It also reinforces Rubrik’s strategy of offering future-ready infrastructure that is optimized for hybrid, multi-cloud, and AI-centric workloads.
