Intending to make TV shows recording easy, the South Korean electronics giant Samsung has acquired TV digital recording device company Boxee.
A spokesperson of Samsung said, We have acquired key talent and assets from Boxee. This will help us continue to improve the overall user experience across our connected devices.
Founded in 2007, Israel-based Boxee is a DVR that stores content in the cloud and lets viewers watch recordings anywhere without space constraints. Presently, Boxee’s hardware is made by D-Link, which helped it launch both the first-generation Boxee Box and now also the Cloud DVR. Post acquisition, Boxee’s team of around 45 people will now work under Samsung’s roof.
