Seagate unveils Cheetah Storage Hard Drive
Seagate Technology has unveiled the Cheetah NS hard drive, developed for mission-critical enterprise network storage applications where the highest available storage capacity and the lowest power consumption are required. With its combination of features that include Seagate’s PowerTrim technology optimized for these environments, the Cheetah NS provides the lowest price-per-gigabyte and watts-per-gigabyte value for the enterprise.
Leveraged from the same platform as the 15K-rpm Cheetah 15K.5, the Cheetah NS is a new 10K-rpm hard drive that delivers best-in-class capacity, energy savings and performance when compared to standard 3.5-inch form factor 10K-rpm enterprise drives. It provides IT professionals with a choice in optimizing their enterprise systems for capacity or performance.
It also features up to 33 per cent more capacity at 400 gigabytes along with a 33-per cent reduction in power and cooling requirements. This additional capacity and reduced cooling profile in the data centre means that the Cheetah NS ultimately delivers the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for a wide range of mission-critical enterprise network storage applications.
Designed for the demanding workloads of the enterprise, the Cheetah NS is rated with a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 1.4 million hours and is backed by Seagate’s trusted five-year warranty. Seagate is now shipping the Cheetah NS to leading OEM customers. It is expected to be available to the worldwide distribution channel during the third quarter of 2007.
Data Recovery Version: Stellar
Stellar Information Systems has made available the latest version of their flagship product, v3.0 Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software, and advanced recovery software designed for safe and non-destructive data recovery from hard disk or any removable media. This is the latest version of Stellar’s Phoneix FAT & NTFS.
The new version is powered by a new engine that scans drives in an efficient manner and at a much faster speed. V3.0 also enables faster file recovery with improved data transfer speeds and the recovered files can be saved in compressed form.
The new user interface of the software makes it easier to use. This streamlined screen layout helps the user to spend more time in recovering the data and gives better results at a faster pace. Another most important feature is the “File Preview” feature, which gives a fair idea about the recovery results. The “RAW Data Recovery” feature helps to recover 300 different file types, including MS-Office, web, images, movie, digital camera and application files, in spite of severe file corruption or overwritten.
The “Create an Image” feature of the latest version creates an image of hard disk drive, floppy disk, CD/DVD storage media and logical drives. However, it also simplifies this and helps to scan the image at a faster pace. The pricing of the software starts from $99 and is available online as well as through the company’s partner network across the globe. Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software, which supports Vista, is available in five different software interface languages – English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
