The global sovereign cloud market is expected to expand rapidly over the next decade as governments and regulated industries seek greater control over data storage and processing, according to a new study from MarkNtel Advisors.
The report forecasts the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 24.16% between 2026 and 2032, driven by stricter data localization regulations, increasing concerns about national data security and broader adoption of cloud computing in highly regulated sectors.
MarkNtel Advisors said the market was valued at around $129 billion in 2025 and is projected to increase to $156.2 billion in 2026, eventually reaching approximately $572.3 billion by 2032.
Sovereign cloud environments allow organizations to store and process data within specific national jurisdictions, helping governments and businesses comply with regulations that require sensitive information to remain within national borders.
The study found that data sovereignty solutions accounted for about 55% of the market in 2026, reflecting growing regulatory mandates that require organizations to maintain strict control over where data is stored and processed.
Demand is particularly strong in the public sector. The government and defense segment represented roughly 32% of the sovereign cloud market in 2026, driven by increased investments in secure digital infrastructure and concerns over protecting critical national information systems.
Regionally, North America leads the global sovereign cloud market, accounting for about 44% of total market share in 2026.
The region’s dominance is supported by the presence of major cloud infrastructure providers and increasing demand from both government agencies and enterprises for secure cloud environments that comply with domestic regulatory frameworks.
The report said global cloud service providers are expanding sovereign cloud offerings and forming partnerships with governments and enterprises to deliver compliant infrastructure tailored to local regulatory requirements.
Analysts expect continued growth as countries strengthen digital sovereignty policies and organizations move sensitive workloads to cloud platforms designed to meet national security and compliance standards.
