Tandberg Data is planning to focus and meet the strong demand for new technology products in the Indian market. The decision to focus on the Indian market comes at a time when the global businesses are reeling under the effects of recession and business expansion still remains a far-fetched idea.
Tandberg is also planning to enhance its existing channel structure as well as expand its channel base in the country. The company is to recruit about 20 channel partners across the country. Tandberg currently has three national distributors – Ingram, Inflow and Store IT.
According to Bharat Kumar, Vice-President - Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific, Japan and Middle East, Tandberg Data, “With the presence of a huge cluster of multiple new products in the storage space, it becomes utmost necessary for Tandberg to promote and position itself strongly as a brand in the domestic market and come to everyone’s notice.” This, he adds, is possible by educating and training its channel partners and by extending all needed support to its channel partners.
In the near future, Tandberg is believed to have come out with combinations of software and hardware appliances that would be a complete disk solution, besides targeting verticals like finance, oil & gas, and government.
