Technopark is strategically positioned to harness the immense opportunities arising from the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution, projected to connect 30 billion devices worldwide by 2030, said Mr. Sarath Chandran, Head of India R&D at Armada.AI.
Speaking on Technopark’s official vodcast “Aspire: Stories of Innovation,” Mr. Chandran emphasized that India’s first IT park holds a pivotal role in building IoT-driven solutions by leveraging vast amounts of data. “Technopark is on the right path toward creating a vibrant technology and startup ecosystem capable of fully capitalizing on this revolution,” he noted.
Encouraging young developers, Mr. Chandran urged them to explore Edge AI, which processes data closer to its source. “The edge is the future of technology. It offers tremendous opportunities to innovate and build disruptive solutions,” he said.
Within ten months of opening its India office at Technopark, Armada.AI, a US-headquartered pioneer in Edge Computing and AI, has expanded operations into Technopark Phase-3, transforming the facility into a core R&D hubfor developing cutting-edge AI technologies.
Explaining the decision to base operations in Thiruvananthapuram, he cited factors such as cost efficiency, local talent, quality of life, and Technopark’s world-class infrastructure. “Technopark recognized our potential and offered an ideal environment for growth,” he added.
Armada.AI actively fosters collaboration within Kerala’s tech ecosystem and has established key partnerships with Starlink and Microsoft. The Starlink partnership enables the creation of software platforms to optimize satellite connectivity, enhancing communication and data processing for organizations operating in remote regions.
“Our mission is to bridge the digital divide,” Mr. Chandran said, highlighting Armada’s collaborations with global NGOs to drive AI-powered rural development, including initiatives in education and mobile healthcare. “Technology-driven mobile hospitals, supported by strong connectivity, will help bring ‘education and healthcare for all’ closer to reality,” he added.
The company currently employs about 100 R&D engineers in Kerala and plans to expand further. With major markets in the US and Middle East, Armada.AI is also preparing for broader global expansion, including India.
Backed by top investors like Founders Fund—established by PayPal founders Peter Thiel, Ken Howery, and Luke Nosek—and Microsoft’s venture arm M12, Armada.AI continues to accelerate innovation in AI, edge computing, and connectivity, positioning Technopark at the heart of India’s IoT future.
