Telit Wireless Solutions has announced the application of its GT863HSPA+ terminal to handle high-speed mobile data connection from about 1,300 buses to the Winter Games security and surveillance service center. The buses are an integral part of the infrastructure in place to support athletes and visitors at Sochi’s 2014 Winter Olympic Games and the high-speed data link makes it possible for live video to be streamed from the buses to the Games’ security apparatus.

The GT863-3GE used in the project is an advanced high-speed mobile data terminal. It is based on the HE910 EUD tri-band UMTS/HSPA+ 850/900/2100MHz module, and a member of Telit’s flagship xE910 module family delivering 3G radio access technology in the company’s popular 28.2 x 28.2 x 2.2 mm family form factor.

"The Sochi Bus video surveillance system application for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games shows again the growing presence of M2M technology and its unbound benefits to business and society. In this case specifically, we see a clear demonstration of its value to public safety and personal security," said Felix Marchal, Chief Product Officer, Telit Wireless Solutions.

With over a decade of exclusive focus on M2M, reducing technical risk and shortening time to market for OEMs and integrators, the company leverage M2M’s broadest portfolio in cellular, short range and positioning technologies paired with m2mAIR services covering application enablement as well as mobile network and internet/cloud sides of connectivity.
