Telit introduces new 2G chipset addition to its flagship family
In the xE910 product family, a third generation 2G cellular module has been included by Telit Wireless Solutions. The GE910-QUAD V3 is designed for integrators and OEMs starting or upgrading designs going forward. The new module is scheduled for long-term availability for the protection of design investments.
The product includes features such as TCP/IP stack and Python Script Language interpreter for running customer applications internally, including internet connected ones. The company believes it to be an ideal platform for bill-of-material (BOM) cost sensitive applications in automotive, telematics, automated meter reading, and other segments.
It delivers GPRS class 10, 3GPP Release 4 compliant data communications and is equipped with two ITU-T V.24 UART interfaces and ten 1.8V I/O ports. The product is also offered with an optional factory-mounted SIM chip called MFF2 according to ETSI M2M UICC standard (TS 102.671).
The GE910-QUAD V3 is ideal for battery-powered device applications such as automated water and gas meter readers, because of its wide supply voltage of 3.2 to 4.5V and ultra-low standby current.
Dominikus Hierl, Chief Marketing Officer at Telit Wireless Solutions said, "With the GE910-QUAD V3, Telit brings to market an unmatched product in terms of cost-benefit. Low-speed, data-burst applications continue dominating high-volume M2M. And when you add the feature richness to long-term availability ensured by the use of the industry’s latest release of GSM/GPRS chipset, the GE910-QUAD V3 becomes an easy decision for developers updating designs or starting new projects in these growing application areas."
With the new product, Telit is also targeting the usage based insurance, POS terminal, m-health, security alarm panel, and other low-speed friendly application areas.
