Times Internet invests in Gradestack

GradeStack has raised another round of investment from Times Internet Limited; earlier they were a part of the Summer 2013 batch of TLABS.

With the smartphone penetration on a meteoric rise especially in the 18 - 24 yrs segment, GradeStack sees a huge opportunity in delivering educational content that is designed for mobile and can be consumed on the go.  Commenting on the same VibhuBhushan, Co-Founder and Product Head, GradeStack said, “Just like simply exporting print content to web did not work, similarly just pushing web content on mobile is not the solution. Turning content into shorter modules, gamifying the learning experience and making it social is the key.”

Most publishers and large institutes have a huge repository of learning material that has not been utilized either on web or on mobile. GradeStack takes this content and makes the whole learning experience more engaging by adding elements such as assessments, flashcards, discussions, and connecting students who are taking similar courses.

On their investment in GradeStack, Abhishek Gupta, Head, TLABS says "We are very bullish on mobile as a medium and education is a huge opportunity globally. We found that the team had a very strong tech background and they understand online/mobile distribution far better than any other player in edutech who mostly are from content background. This give Gradestack an advantage over others as the cost of customer acquisition is far less.

Over the last 8 months that they have been live, GradeStack has got more than 400,000 downloads across 30+ courses and look towards reaching 1 million users by June this year. GradeStack has also been quick in sourcing large volume of educational content, creating 8-10 courses every week.
