With a view to change the picture of cricket viewing experience in India, UFO has announced the screening of DLF IPL 2010 matches LIVE on gigantic screens in multiplexes and single theatres all across India in High Definition format without advertisements. It has planned to replicate the stadium frenzy for the match goers in the theatres.
In order to provide ultimate entertainment value and keep the IPL magic alive, the theatres will have cricket-related merchandises, exciting gifts, multi-cuisine food stalls to the audience. A “Cinema Jockey” will be anchoring various interactive activities in the foyer with a range of contests being held from time to time and the winners of these contests being flashed on screen across different theatres nationally. These screenings are likely to keep the magic of IPL within cinema halls alive and generate and sustain the excitement for 45 days at a stretch.
Talking about the latest endeavour, Kapil Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, UFO Moviez India, said, “We are proud to introduce the pioneering concept of bringing live IPL matches across Indian theatres. With a target of showcasing the IPL across 1,000 cinemas, we have got into strategic alliances with multiplexes like Cinemax, INOX, Fame, PVR and single-screen cinemas across the country, including Tier 2 & 3 cities. The High Definition format of IPL matches, which means better quality and more content on screen, that too without any ads will be an ‘out of the world’ viewing experience for the patrons.”
UFO, which has more than 1,700 digital screens across India, has tied up with Crown Infotainment, who holds the distribution rights for IPL 2010-2019 seasons, to introduce IPL matches in theatres. Till date, the company has signed over 550 screens, out of which 200 are multiplexes. UFO is targeting to showcase the IPL matches across 1,000 screens in the coming years.
