UTStarcom has announced a partnership with Ruckus Wireless to provide wireless IPTV solutions in India. UTStarcom will use Ruckus' MediaFlex series of products that will enable service providers to get rid of the conventional method of running an ethernet cable from the DSL modem to the set-top box (STB), which are generally located in two different locations in homes.
Ruckus Wireless MediaFlex product series are specially designed for in-home wireless HD IPTV and triple-play service distribution. A triple-play network is one in which voice, video and data are all provided in a single access subscription.
Commenting on the partnership, Vijay Yadav, Managing Director, UTStarcom, said, "Awareness and adoption of IPTV has been gradually increasing in India. In-house cabling is a very important concern faced by the IPTV service providers and through this partnership, the service providers will be able to solve this issue and enhance consumer experience. End-consumers have always had a concern on the aesthetics of their homes being spoilt with the cable wires running across their living rooms and the solution provided by UTStarcom – Ruckus partnership will be a boon to them."
