Veeam Software, a leader in Data and AI Trust, recently hosted the Bharat Cyber Suraksha – North-East Cyber Resilience & AI Transformation Summit in Guwahati. This landmark event brought together government officials, academic leaders, and industry experts to establish a robust framework for cybersecurity and artificial intelligence readiness across India’s North-Eastern states.
The North-East Cyber Resilience Report 2025
A primary outcome of the summit was the launch of a comprehensive report developed with the Northeast India Public Policy Forum. This data-driven roadmap addresses several critical areas:
● Incident Response: Practical strategies to counter the rising tide of cyber threats (over 47,000 incidents reported in the region).
● Regulatory Compliance: Guidelines for adhering to the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and CERT-In requirements.
● AI Integration: Establishing secure foundations for AI-powered governance and public services.
Empowering Academia and Skills Development
Veeam formalized its commitment to the region by exchanging Memorandums of Intent (MoI) with three prominent institutions: Assam Science and Technology University, Assam Don Bosco University, and Assam Down Town University. These partnerships will:
-
Establish Cyber Resilience Centers of Excellence.
-
Integrate industry-aligned AI and cybersecurity curricula.
-
Develop a "job-ready" talent pipeline to meet the growing demand for DevSecOps and AI security professionals.
The "Main Hoon Saksham" Initiative
In collaboration with Women in Cloud and NxtGen, Veeam launched the "Main Hoon Saksham" drive. This program is designed to provide hands-on training and AI-enabled security skills to students and faculty across the North-East, aiming to bridge the grassroots digital trust gap.
A Strategic Frontier for "Viksit Bharat"
The summit underscores the shift of India's digital focus toward its frontiers. As highlighted by Sandeep Bhambure of Veeam, 90% of cyberattacks now target backup data, making visibility and recovery as important as prevention. By focusing on the "6 Ps"—Partnerships, People, Platforms, Policy, Progress, and Purpose—Veeam is positioning Guwahati as a strategic technology hub. This regional focus is essential for India’s broader goal of digital sovereignty, ensuring that even the most remote states are equipped to handle the convergence of identity, data, and AI risk.
