Verizon and Amazon Web Services have joined forces to construct high-speed, low-latency fiber routes between AWS data centers, strengthening cloud infrastructure to support the growing demand for generative AI and next-generation digital applications
Verizon has announced a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop advanced fiber infrastructure connecting AWS data centers across key regions. The initiative, called Verizon AI Connect, aims to boost the speed, security, and reliability of cloud networks powering artificial intelligence applications.
Under the agreement, Verizon will design and deploy long-haul, high-capacity fiber routes that minimize latency and ensure consistent performance for AI workloads on AWS. While the companies did not disclose financial details, the project reflects a broader trend of telecom and cloud leaders investing heavily in infrastructure to support the next wave of digital innovation.
Strengthening cloud and telecom synergy
The collaboration extends Verizon’s long-standing relationship with AWS, which includes joint work on private mobile edge computing and Verizon’s adoption of AWS as a preferred cloud provider.
Telecom firms are emerging as key enablers in the AI-driven economy, while major cloud providers — including Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet — continue to report strong growth driven by generative AI demand. With this alliance, Verizon and AWS aim to deliver the robust connectivity backbone essential for AI’s rapid expansion across industries.
