Vertex has signed a £40 million, five-year private cloud contract with Cable&Wireless Worldwide. Vertex will be provided with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution by C&W Worldwide to host the former's IT infrastructure. Vertex will also have global access to all its information via C&W Worldwide's high-speed next-generation network (NGN).

Virtualization will help Vertex significantly reduce its IT overheads by enabling it to use less physical hardware and putting its server capability to better use as well as delivering significant savings on the associated energy and maintenance costs.
