A viral video claiming to show an elephant clutching a statue of Lord Shiva to prevent itself from being swept away in floodwaters has been debunked as a fabrication. The clip, which circulated widely on social media, purported to show a real-life rescue attempt by the animal.
However, an investigation by the Faceoff Fact Check Desk has confirmed that the footage is entirely AI-generated. The analysis revealed that 99% of the video contains synthetic elements. It was traced back to an Instagram user known for creating such AI-generated content. An expert also verified that the incident was not real.
The claim that the video documented an actual event is false. It was digitally created and then falsely shared online to mislead viewers into believing it was a genuine occurrence.
