Vishal Salvi, one of India’s most recognized cybersecurity leaders, has stepped down from his role as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Infosys after seven years. He has now been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Quick Heal Technologies Ltd., marking a major leadership transition for the Pune-based cybersecurity software firm.
Salvi’s departure from Infosys was announced on LinkedIn, where he reflected on his journey of reshaping Infosys’ security strategy, strengthening its enterprise defense programs, and redefining the role of the CISO. During his tenure, Infosys’ cybersecurity practice was regarded as one of the strongest in the IT services sector, admired by clients, industry peers, and the company’s senior leadership.
In his statement on his new role, Salvi emphasized the broader mission of making cybersafety a fundamental right. He said:
“I am eager to drive growth, cultivate a culture of innovation, and provide unmatched value to our customers and stakeholders. Together, we will strive to create a cyber-secure world for everyone.”
Quick Heal, a company providing cybersecurity products across domestic and international markets, announced that Salvi’s appointment as CEO, alongside Dr. Kailash Katkar continuing as Chairman and Managing Director, represents a “significant milestone.” The move signals Quick Heal’s intention to bolster leadership at a time when it faces competitive and financial pressures.
In Q4 FY25, the company reported a net loss of ₹3.25 crore, compared to a profit of ₹14.04 crore in Q4 FY24. Its revenue from operations fell 18.6% year-on-year to ₹65.14 crore.
● For Quick Heal: Appointing Salvi brings credibility and deep enterprise cybersecurity expertise to a company traditionally focused on consumer and SMB markets. This may help Quick Heal reposition itself as a more enterprise-focused cybersecurity solutions provider.
● For Infosys: Salvi’s exit marks the loss of a key security leader at a time when global IT services firms are facing increasing cyber risks and client demands for stronger security postures. Infosys will need to reinforce continuity in its security leadership.
● For the Industry: Salvi’s transition highlights how cybersecurity leaders are increasingly stepping into CEO roles, reflecting the strategic importance of cybersecurity in driving business growth, trust, and innovation.
Salvi’s challenge will be to translate his enterprise-scale experience at Infosys into turning around Quick Heal’s financial performance, scaling its global presence, and pushing the company deeper into enterprise markets while maintaining its consumer base. His leadership may also set the tone for how Indian cybersecurity firms evolve in a landscape dominated by global players.
