Huawei has announced the release of a new wireless spectrum white paper on perspective of future development of mobile broadband and spectrum expansion for IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications).
According to the white paper, a minimum of 500 MHz of spectrum needs to be newly available for IMT at WRC-15 (2015 World Radio communication Conference) and should be identified mainly below 6GHz.
In addition to availability of future new spectrum, Huawei believes better and more efficient utilization of existing spectrum is critical to promote the development of the wireless industry. The proliferation of LTE bands should encourage the industry to consider a solution for LTE roaming from a spectrum point of view. Technical solutions should work towards spectrum harmonization. To this end, Huawei believes small cell is one important technology direction, with3.5GHz identified as one important global harmonized band for small cell. Huawei provides a solution over the air for TDD synchronization issues among different operators.
Sun Lixin, Director of Wireless Standard, Huawei said, “Spectrum is a scarce non-renewable resource for mobile communication. Huawei, as one of the leading telecom vendors seeks more spectrum opportunities for future mobile broadband development. Mobile broadband systems, especially IMT, greatly contribute to global economic and social development. Huawei has been actively participating in the research and development of regulations for more efficient spectrum usage held by ITU and regulators. Huawei continues to be dedicated to creating maximum spectrum value for the industry and our customers through innovation and strong partnerships.”
