
Wipro used Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure to enable seamless, low-latency migration of critical HR data to OCI, enhancing its global workforce of over 230,000 employees and partners across 65 countries
Wipro has successfully migrated its critical Oracle databases supporting payroll and recruitment to the Oracle Base Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This strategic move has significantly enhanced system performance, boosting recruitment efficiency by over 50% and cutting payroll processing time by 60%, reducing it from more than 70 minutes to just 29 minutes.
To ensure a smooth, low-latency migration, Wipro utilized Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud and Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure, enabling seamless data and workload transfer to OCI. With a global workforce of over 230,000 employees and partners across 65 countries, Wipro’s focus on strengthening internal HR systems is a vital step toward building a future-ready workforce.
Enhanced efficiency and multicloud strategy
Harish Singh, Vice President and Global Head of Infrastructure and Applications Management Group at Wipro, emphasized the benefits of this transformation: “This migration provides us flexibility, performance, and security to modernize mission-critical systems, enhance HR efficiency, and support talent retention.” The shift has also led to improved database management, application availability, and overall security.
By leveraging Oracle Database on OCI alongside multicloud capabilities, Wipro has optimized operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, ensuring smooth integration across its IT landscape. Premalakshmi PR, Vice President of Technology Cloud at Oracle India, highlighted the partnership’s impact, stating that it showcases how strategic collaborations can drive large-scale digital transformation.
Daphne Chung, Research Director at IDC Asia/Pacific, noted that the growing adoption of multicloud environments is key for enterprises aiming to power AI workloads while maintaining scalable and flexible infrastructure. Wipro’s cloud migration exemplifies this trend, positioning the company to meet future technological demands efficiently.
