X is ending its Creator Revenue Sharing programme and moving creators to a new Original Content Rewards Programme. The platform stopped accepting new applications for the old scheme on August 7, 2026, and will retire it on September 7. Existing members will continue earning until then; from September 8, they can start applying for the new programme if they meet its eligibility rules. The new system will focus on original posts and pay creators based on qualified impressions from Premium users on the Home Timeline.
X announced the change on August 7, saying it would stop accepting new applications for Creator Revenue Sharing immediately.
Existing members, however, will not lose their remaining earnings. They will receive three final payments:
August 14: First final payout under the existing schedule.
August 28: Second final payout.
Around September 11: Final payment for earnings made through September 7.
The platform said the old programme will officially end on September 7. From September 8, existing Revenue Sharing members will gradually get access to apply for the Original Content Rewards Programme.
According to X, the new programme is meant to reward creators for “original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary.”
