Yahoo hosts "ProductCamp"

Yahoo! India R&D has hosted a ProductCamp (referred as P-Camp) for the Product Management community in Bangalore. The event was organized with the support of the India Product Management Association. P-Camp is run on a unique participant-driven event format, where the agenda was decided by the choice of participants, who voted for the topics to be presented or discussed at the event. Known within the community as an "Unconference", it provided an informal, interactive environment to network and discuss a wide array of product management topics such as design, development, marketing, etc.

The first-ever ProductCamp in Bangalore and only the second time in India, P-Camp is a popular event in the US, providing a conducive platform for product innovation.

"India has built a reputation with IT Services. To move up the value chain, it is essential for the industry to now focus on product innovation. Yahoo! India R&D, with its rich experience in developing and managing global products, is committed to fostering a deep talent pool for product innovation in India. We are honoured to host this P-Camp, which, we believe, will influence the direction in which the industry needs to move," said Shouvick Mukherjee, Vice - President & CEO, Yahoo! India Research & Development.

"P-Camps have grown in popularity across the globe over the past few years and we felt it is the right time to bring it to Bangalore, as the city is home to several hi-tech companies consisting of MNCs, start-ups and some of the country's leading academic institutions," says Bala Girisaballa, Director, Yahoo! Entrepreneur Network (YEN).

The event attracted a wide spectrum of attendees ranging from product managers to architects, recent B-school grads, academia, the investment community, etc. P-Camps and other product management events validate the need for support systems like the "India Product Management Association".
