YouTube is piloting a new subscription plan that will allow two users to share Premium or Music Premium membership. The Google-owned video streaming platform is testing the plan in India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong with select users. The new two-person YouTube Premium subscription is priced at Rs 219 per month in India. In comparison, the existing family plan—supporting up to five users—is priced at Rs 299 per month.
Subscribers to YouTube Premium enjoy several advantages, including:
· Ad-free viewing on YouTube and YouTube Music
· Background playback for videos
· Offline downloads for videos and music
· Access to YouTube Music Premium
· Exclusive content and early access to new features
These benefits enhance the overall user experience by providing uninterrupted and versatile access to content.
This testing phase follows YouTube's introduction of the Premium Lite plan, which offers ad-free viewing for most videos but excludes features like offline downloads and background play. The two-person plan aims to provide a middle ground, catering to users who desire shared access at a lower cost than the family plan.
The two-person Premium plan is in the pilot phase, and its availability may be limited. YouTube has not yet announced a full-scale rollout or whether the plan will become a permanent offering. Users interested in this plan should monitor official YouTube communications for updates on its availability and any potential changes.
