ZyXEL Communications has declared that the company's products shipped to and sold on the European market will be compliant with the European Union's EuP Directive (2005/32/EC) requirements. The declaration will be effective after January 1, 2010. ZyXEL once again meets the international standards in environment protection and the move also reaffirms ZyXEL's commitment to being a responsible manufacturer.

In addition to the EuP, ZyXEL also makes its operations to fully comply with two other EU directives – WEEE (Waste Electronics and Electrical Equipment) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The company has established a "WEEE Registration Control and Management Platform" to assist and manage all branch offices and distributors in registering with the environmental authorities of their respective countries.

Aiming to reduce environmental burden and improve environmental performance, the Energy Using Products (EuP) Directives adopted by European Parliament and the Council established a framework for eco-design requirements that administer energy-using products. With commitments to the environment, ZyXEL will work continuously on improving the environmental performance of its products and take every step to actively decrease greenhouse gas emissions and underline its role as a responsible global corporate citizen.
