Apna.co Unveils AI-Powered ‘Apna Safety’ to Fight Job Scams in India’s Festive Hiring Season
2025-09-26
With Apna Safety, Apna.co aims to create a scam-free, trustworthy digital job marketplace that protects millions of jobseekers across India.
Apna.co, India’s leading jobs and career platform, has rolled out an advanced AI-powered tool, Apna Safety, to tackle the growing menace of job scams in India, particularly during the high-demand festive hiring season.
The Apna Safety system verifies recruiters using business records, GST, PAN, and CIN data, as well as Aadhaar authentication for individuals. Recruiters are assigned a credibility score, and suspicious accounts are flagged as active, blocked, or unregistered. This ensures that jobseekers can instantly check recruiter authenticity using just a phone number on the platform.
During its pilot phase in August–September 2025, Apna Safety verified over 146,000 recruiters, resulting in a 45% drop in job scam exposure and a 60% decline in safety-related complaints. The initiative also boosted Apna.co’s Google Play Store rating to 4.7, reflecting higher trust among users.
The AI tool proactively identifies common scam patterns like fake registration fees, security deposits, training charges, or fraudulent salary transfers. Jobseekers receive real-time scam alerts within the app, helping them avoid fraudulent job postings in e-commerce, logistics, telecalling, and customer support sectors—areas most affected by scams.
Commenting on the launch, Nirmit Parikh, Founder & CEO of Apna.co, said, “With AI-powered Apna Safety, we are raising the bar for recruiter verification and accountability in India’s job market. Our goal is simple—empowering every Indian to pursue opportunities with confidence, dignity, and safety.”
According to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Indians lost over ₹22,800 crore to cyber fraud in 2024, with job scams being the largest contributor, causing losses of about ₹5,100 crore, particularly affecting freshers and frontline workers.
