Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a monumental $12.7 billion investment to scale India’s cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure by 2030.
Unveiled at the AWS Summit 2026 in Bengaluru, this strategic initiative aims to solidify India’s position as a global technology powerhouse by bolstering high-performance computing hubs in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The investment directly supports the Government of India’s "AI Mission," prioritizing digital inclusion and productivity. Beyond physical infrastructure, Amazon is fostering an AI-first ecosystem by empowering 15 million small businesses with advanced generative and agentic AI tools to streamline operations and global scaling.
Education remains a cornerstone of this commitment. Amazon plans to provide AI literacy to 4 million government-school students by 2030, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020 to cultivate future-ready talent.
Building on 7 million existing cloud-trained professionals, this expansion confirms Amazon’s role as a foundational partner in India’s journey toward digital sovereignty, ensuring the transformative benefits of AI permeate both enterprise and grassroots economies.
