Chirag Paswan Calls for Tech-Led Transformation in Food Processing at Convergence India Expo 2026

Union Minister Chirag Paswan has called for a technological revolution in India’s food processing sector, urging stakeholders to shift focus from volume-driven production to value and quality. Speaking as Chief Guest at the Convergence India Expo 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, the Minister highlighted the role of innovation, startups, and digital tools in modernising agriculture and enhancing global competitiveness.
Addressing a large gathering of industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, Paswan stressed the importance of integrating advanced technologies across the food value chain. He noted that continuous dialogue with stakeholders is crucial for identifying bottlenecks and shaping responsive policies aligned with evolving industry needs.
Reaffirming the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Paswan said India is working towards creating an ecosystem where domestic goods can seamlessly access global markets. He emphasised that leveraging innovation and the dynamism of startups will be key to accelerating growth in food processing and agriculture.
AI, Innovation Take Centre Stage
Earlier, Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics & IT and CEO of the India AI Mission, highlighted India’s potential to become a global hub for AI inferencing. He pointed to the country’s strong talent pool, startup ecosystem, and industry participation as key drivers.

Singh underscored the importance of responsible AI deployment, noting that its real impact lies in practical applications across sectors such as power, mobility, healthcare, and urban planning. “AI’s potential extends far beyond models to real-world transformation,” he said.
Platform for Collaboration and Emerging Technologies
The three-day expo featured high-level discussions on scaling AI adoption, strengthening digital public infrastructure, and building the backbone of India’s digital economy. Sessions also explored smart mobility, connected systems, and global collaboration in emerging technologies.

Chandrika Behl, Managing Director of Exhibitions India Group, said the platform continues to foster partnerships and innovation across sectors. “From food processing to healthcare and mobility, the focus is on scalable, responsible solutions delivering real impact,” she noted.
Major technology players, including Qualcomm, Tesla, Philips, and Redington, showcased cutting-edge solutions, alongside collaborations with Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft—highlighting the expanding ecosystem driving India’s digital transformation.
