Dell unveils next-gen private cloud upgrades to power smarter, secure & scalable data centers
2025-09-25
To enable flexible, software-driven private clouds, Dell is integrating its Private Cloud into the Dell Automation Platform with AI-based automation and NativeEdge support, streamlining operations across on-prem, SaaS, and distributed edge-to-core environments
Dell Technologies today announced a sweeping set of enhancements to its private cloud infrastructure portfolio, designed to help enterprises manage both legacy and next‑gen workloads with greater speed, flexibility, and security. The upgrades span compute, storage, automation, and cyber‑resilience layers—forming a strengthened foundation for India’s growing digital and AI demands.
Accelerating private cloud with smarter storage & automation
To support the shift toward disaggregated, software-driven clouds, Dell is integrating its Dell Private Cloud offering into the Dell Automation Platform, enabling both on‑premises and SaaS deployments. Customers can now choose their preferred cloud OS stack while leveraging disaggregated infrastructure elements such as PowerStore, PowerFlex, and PowerMax. AI‑based automation capabilities will assist with monitoring and lifecycle management.
A standout change is the incorporation of Dell NativeEdge into the Automation Platform, yielding a unified stack optimized for distributed, edge environments. This integration is intended to reduce operational complexity across edge-to-core deployments.
On the storage front, Dell is pushing forward with a wave of innovation:
· PowerStore 5200Q introduces QLC flash, boosting cost efficiency and scale, with support for up to 25 PB per cluster. Software enhancements also bring anomaly detection, biometric authentication, and self-healing via Smart Support Auto‑Heal.
· PowerFlex Ultra debuts the Scalable Availability Engine (SAE), promising improved storage efficiency—up to 80% data efficiency and more than 50% reduction in physical footprint—while delivering robust resilience and scalability.
· PowerMax 2500 now includes QLC support and enhanced automation; key features include sub‑6-second one-click upgrades, zero-touch installs, and tighter integration with Kubernetes workloads.
Fortified data protection & cyber‑resilience
To address mounting cyber risks, Dell’s PowerProtect suite is being enhanced to support modern data environments. The new Data Domain DD3410 caters to remote and office environments, scaling from 8 to 32 TBu with strong data reduction. Meanwhile, PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance centralizes cyber-resilience across hybrid workloads, layering in anomaly detection, data immutability, and integration with Dell’s storage platforms.
Perspectives & availability
“As Indian enterprises embrace AI and digital transformation, agile and secure private cloud infrastructure becomes essential,” said Venkat Sitaram, Senior Director and Country Head, Infrastructure Solutions Group, Dell India. He emphasized that the new offerings are tailored to support India’s growth imperatives.
Travis Vigil, Dell’s Senior VP for ISG Product Management, added: “Our storage and resilience enhancements anticipate customer needs and help build clouds that are smarter, secure, and future ready.”
Thomas Cornely of Nutanix confirmed a forthcoming integration with Dell PowerStore, promising “enterprise-grade flexibility” when available in early access in Spring 2026.
Industry observers also praised the move. “Dell’s latest advancements provide a compelling platform for disaggregated private cloud environments,” noted Simon Robinson, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group.
