Breaking News
Google has finalized its $32 billion all-cash acquisition of Wiz, marking the largest deal in the company’s history and a significant milestone in the global cybersecurity landscape. The Israel-based cloud security firm will operate under Google Cloud while retaining its brand identity and continuing to support customers across multiple cloud platforms.
The acquisition follows a prolonged negotiation process. Google initially approached Wiz in 2024 with a $23 billion offer, which was declined. Talks resumed in early 2025, leading to a formal agreement later that year. The deal subsequently received regulatory approvals from authorities in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and key Asian markets before closing in March 2026.
Strategic Push into Cloud and AI Security
Wiz has emerged as a major player in cloud security, surpassing $1 billion in annual recurring revenue in 2025 and serving a significant share of Fortune 100 companies. Its platform enables organizations to gain a unified view of their applications across development, deployment, and runtime environments.
The acquisition reflects Google’s strategic response to the growing complexity of cybersecurity, driven by rapid cloud adoption and the rise of AI-powered threats. As enterprises increasingly operate in multi-cloud environments, the need for integrated security solutions has intensified. Wiz has expanded its capabilities to address risks associated with AI workloads, offering visibility and protection across modern digital infrastructures.
Integrated Security Platform for Enterprises
The combined strengths of Google Cloud and Wiz are expected to deliver an end-to-end, AI-driven cybersecurity platform. The integration will bring together advanced threat intelligence, cloud-native security, and real-time monitoring to help organizations detect and respond to threats more effectively.
Importantly, Wiz will continue to support major cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud, ensuring flexibility for enterprise customers. Google has also indicated it will maintain partnerships with third-party security vendors, reinforcing a multi-cloud and open ecosystem approach.
With cyber threats becoming more sophisticated and frequent, the acquisition positions Google as a stronger competitor in the cloud and AI security space. The deal is expected to accelerate innovation and provide enterprises with more comprehensive tools to safeguard their digital operations.
