Electronics and IT Secretary S. Krishnan said that the government has found no evidence of any critical data loss following the recent cybersecurity incident involving Tata Electronics.
“Tata Electronics is working closely with MeitY,” Krishnan said, adding that “nothing critical has been lost” based on the government’s assessment so far.
The statement comes amid concerns over the potential impact of the incident on Apple's supply chain, as Tata Electronics is one of the iPhone maker's key manufacturing partners in India.
Krishnan, however, indicated that the matter is being handled and remains under assessment.
Earlier, in the government's first official response to the cybersecurity incident, the MeitY Secretary confirmed that the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) had initiated an investigation into the reported data breach.
Speaking at the launch of the latest Digital Threat Report, Krishnan stressed that organisations must view cybersecurity as an enterprise-wide business risk rather than a purely technology concern, and emphasised the need for continuous vigilance against evolving threats.
The government has also been working with industry to strengthen cyber preparedness through CERT-In advisories, cyber hygiene measures and incident response mechanisms, amid a rise in AI-enabled and supply chain attacks highlighted in the latest Digital Threat Report.
