Breaking News
OnePlus has announced a major expansion of its after-sales service network in India, even as rumours circulate about a potential scale-down of its global operations. The company said it will increase its service capacity by 50 percent starting April 2026, signalling continued focus on one of its key markets.
Rather than opening new standalone facilities, OnePlus plans to leverage the extensive service infrastructure of its parent company, Oppo. This move will increase the number of authorised service centres from around 400 to over 600, while expanding coverage to nearly 500 cities across the country, including Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.
Focus on Customer Support and Accessibility
The expansion is aimed at improving after-sales support and making services more accessible to users in smaller cities. OnePlus stated that all existing warranties, software updates, and customer commitments will remain unaffected. It also emphasised that its product development and community engagement initiatives in India will continue without disruption.
The company reiterated its commitment to the Indian market, describing the expansion as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen its presence and enhance user experience.
Leadership Exit and Global Concerns
The announcement comes amid growing speculation about the company’s future in certain international markets. Reports have pointed to declining shipments, cancelled product launches, and reduced operations in regions such as the United States and Europe.
Adding to the uncertainty is the departure of Rubin Liu, who is set to step down on March 31 and return to China for personal reasons. While the leadership change has drawn attention, OnePlus has clarified that there are no immediate changes planned for its India operations.
The company has previously dismissed shutdown rumours as misinformation, maintaining that its business continues as usual. However, industry reports suggesting a more centralised decision-making approach and a reduced global footprint have kept speculation alive.
Despite these concerns, OnePlus’ latest move indicates a clear intent to strengthen its service ecosystem in India, reinforcing its position in a highly competitive smartphone market.
