Qualcomm to Boost Investments in India Across Mobile, Automotive & Smart Glasses with R&D Push
2025-09-26
Qualcomm is ramping up its investments in India, focusing on high-growth verticals such as mobile technology, automotive solutions, and smart glasses, signaling the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Speaking exclusively to The Hindu, Savi Soin, SVP & President of Qualcomm India, emphasized the country’s importance in Qualcomm’s global strategy. “India is a huge market with immense potential, and we want all our OEM partners to know that Qualcomm is investing heavily here in business and R&D,” he said.
India’s strong base of semiconductor engineers, software developers, and hardware experts makes it one of Qualcomm’s largest engineering hubs outside San Diego. “We don’t spend much time on marketing compared to engineering. Qualcomm is an engineering-first company, and India has more Qualcomm engineers than anywhere else globally, apart from San Diego,” Soin added.
Currently, Qualcomm’s business in India is driven by mobile and fixed wireless solutions, with growing demand in PCs, 5G smartphones, and connected devices. The company also sees major opportunities in automotive technologies, AI-powered applications, and AR/VR smart glasses, aligning with India’s push toward digital transformation and future-ready mobility.
Looking ahead, Qualcomm is set to play a prominent role at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, where its CEO will deliver a keynote. Last year, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor, powering affordable 5G smartphones under ₹10,000. This year, the company plans a larger showcase, with its booth space increasing by 50% from the previous edition.
With a growing consumer base, OEM partnerships, and strong R&D capabilities, Qualcomm aims to shape India’s next wave of wireless connectivity, AI-driven innovation, and automotive technologies, reinforcing its leadership in the semiconductor and mobile ecosystem.
