Breaking News
As New Year 2026 celebrations approach, authorities across Delhi, Noida and Gurugram have announced extensive traffic restrictions, route diversions and heightened security arrangements to ensure public safety. The curbs will come into force from the evening of December 31, 2025, and remain in place until the morning of January 1, 2026.
Officials said the measures are aimed at managing large crowds, easing congestion in party hotspots and preventing any untoward incidents during one of the busiest nights of the year. Security has been intensified following a recent terror attack near the Red Fort, prompting agencies to step up surveillance across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Delhi: Tight Security, Restrictions in Party Zones
In the national capital, traffic police have identified several high-footfall areas where movement will be regulated. Popular locations such as Connaught Place, India Gate, Hauz Khas Village, Aerocity and central Delhi markets are expected to see restrictions, with vehicles allowed only after checks.
Police personnel will be deployed in large numbers, supported by CCTV monitoring, barricades and night patrols. Entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be restricted during late evening hours, while drunk driving checks and random vehicle inspections will be intensified throughout the night. Authorities have advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel in central Delhi and use public transport wherever possible.
Noida and Gurugram: Route Diversions Likely
In Noida, traffic curbs will be implemented around malls, entertainment hubs and sectors hosting New Year events. Areas near Sector 18, DND Flyway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and key intersections may face temporary diversions depending on crowd density.

Meanwhile, Gurugram Police have announced special traffic arrangements around Cyber Hub, MG Road, Golf Course Road and major party destinations. Checkpoints will be set up at multiple entry and exit points, and traffic may be diverted to alternate routes to prevent bottlenecks.
Authorities across NCR have urged residents to plan their journeys in advance, follow traffic advisories issued on official social media handles, and cooperate with police personnel on duty. People have also been advised not to drink and drive and to use cabs or public transport for a safer New Year celebration.
With millions expected to step out to welcome 2026, officials say strict enforcement and public cooperation will be key to ensuring a smooth and secure New Year’s Eve across Delhi-NCR.
