This new unit joins Foxconn’s existing iPhone assembly operations in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, and AirPods manufacturing in Hyderabad.
In a major boost to India’s electronics manufacturing sector, Foxconn is set to begin iPhone shipments from its Bengaluru facility to the United States starting June 2025, as confirmed by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil. The Foxconn Bengaluru plant, located in Devanahalli, will become a significant node in Apple’s global supply chain, marking a new phase in Apple’s production shift away from China.
This strategic development underscores India’s growing role in global smartphone exports, with the government’s Make in India initiative catalyzing an uptick in iPhone made in India units. According to officials, the iPhone export in June will signal the operational maturity of Foxconn’s Karnataka unit, which has been built with the goal of producing high-end devices for both domestic consumption and international markets, especially the U.S.
The Bengaluru iPhone factory will complement Foxconn’s existing operations in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, which has long served as the primary location for Apple’s iPhone assembly in India. In addition to this, Apple’s component production and AirPods manufacturing in Hyderabad reflect a larger shift towards diversified manufacturing bases to reduce reliance on a single geography.
State's Industry Minister MB Patil wrote on X, “This isn’t just a manufacturing milestone — it marks a strategic shift. With rising geopolitical and tariff pressures, India is fast becoming Apple’s preferred production hub. This development strengthens Karnataka’s position in global manufacturing and opens the door to greater foreign investment — without compromising stakeholder interests.”

With Apple India operations gaining momentum, this move is likely to further propel India smartphone exports, strengthen India’s electronics supply chain, and attract foreign direct investment. The emphasis on Karnataka as a manufacturing hub is expected to create thousands of jobs and enhance regional economic growth.
Industry experts see this as a game-changer in Apple's global strategy, positioning India not just as a manufacturing alternative but as a long-term production leader in the smartphone sector. The iPhone USA shipment directly from India will be a landmark milestone for both Apple and the country’s ambitions in high-tech exports.
