New Delhi: Building on the success of their partnership since 2022, NIIT Foundation and Cisco have announced the launch of Cyber Suraksha Plus, an ambitious program aimed at training 27 lakh learners in cybersecurity by 2028.
The initiative follows the earlier Cyber Suraksha program, which has already trained over 10 lakh learners across 27 states and 5 union territories, achieving 40% female participation. More than 7,000 youth have secured jobs in cybersecurity, and the program has reached vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, persons with disabilities, frontline workers, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Cyber Suraksha Plus goes beyond basic awareness to provide structured pathways in system protection, ransomware defense, AI-driven security, and cloud protection, offered in multiple Indian languages to ensure inclusivity.
Harish Krishnan, Managing Director, Cisco India & ASEAN, emphasized that cybersecurity is essential to digital trust and global cooperation, aligning with international initiatives like the G20 Digital Agenda and the upcoming AI Impact Summit 2026.
Sapna Moudgil, CEO of NIIT Foundation, noted that the program aims to make digital safety a “social equalizer,” empowering underserved communities with cyber resilience skills.
According to the DSCI Cyber Threat Report 2025, India recorded 22.68 lakh cybercrime cases in 2024, with healthcare, hospitality, and banking sectors most targeted.
By equipping millions with cybersecurity skills, Cyber Suraksha Plus supports the vision of a digitally empowered and cyber-secure Bharat.
