India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) have evolved from cost-saving outposts into strategic hubs of enterprise transformation. As global businesses accelerate resilience, digital innovation, and AI adoption, India’s GCCs are now leading strategy, R&D, and product innovation on a worldwide scale.
Today, India hosts GCCs from 50+ nations, establishing itself as the Business Culture Capital of the World. Nearly 64% of GCCs cater to US-headquartered firms, with 28% serving EMEA and 8% APAC. Interestingly, non-US GCCs are expanding fastest, growing at a 6.8% CAGR over the past five years—almost double the pace of US-led centers.
Sectorally, over 70% of GCC activity originates from BFSI, consumer goods, automotive/industrial, and technology domains. This concentration reflects enterprises’ growing dependence on India for technology-led transformation.
The scale is formidable: 33% of Fortune 500 companies and nearly 450 of the Forbes Global 2000 already run GCCs out of India. Beyond global giants, the ecosystem is witnessing a mid-market surge—with around 480 GCCs (27% of the total) run by enterprises with revenues between $100 million and $1 billion.
This wave underscores India’s role in enabling regional powerhouses and emerging global players to scale globally with speed, agility, and innovation.
