Anthropic unveils ‘Claude Code’ web tool to automate and streamline coding tasks

Claude Code allows developers to connect GitHub repositories, assign tasks, and have AI implement changes in isolated sessions with real-time tracking, while enabling adjustments mid-task to ensure outputs align accurately with project goals

Anthropic has rolled out Claude Code on the web, allowing developers to delegate coding tasks directly from their browser. Currently available as a research preview in beta, the feature runs on Anthropic-managed cloud infrastructure, making it ideal for clearing bug backlogs, automating routine fixes, or managing parallel development projects.

Unlike traditional workflows that require terminal access, Claude Code lets developers connect their GitHub repositories, describe tasks, and have the AI implement changes automatically. Each coding session operates in an isolated environment with real-time progress tracking, and developers can adjust Claude’s approach mid-task to ensure results align with project goals.

Cloud-powered efficiency and parallel development

The cloud-based system allows multiple coding tasks to run in parallel across different repositories from a single interface. Once tasks are completed, Claude Code automatically generates pull requests and provides clear summaries of changes, helping teams deliver updates faster and more efficiently. Anthropic emphasizes that the web interface is particularly useful for understanding project structures, fixing bugs, updating back-end systems, and performing test-driven development.

In addition to the web version, Claude Code is being introduced on iOS, giving developers the ability to experiment with mobile-based coding while on the go.

Availability and access

The web-based Claude Code is currently available in research preview for Pro and Max users. Developers can visit claude.com/code to link their first repository and start delegating tasks.
