ZEE5, India’s largest homegrown video streaming platform, today announced its upcoming original film, Bhagwat. Produced by Jio Studios in collaboration with Baweja Studios and Dog ‘n’ Bone Pictures, this emotionally charged thriller is inspired by true events and promises a gripping narrative of truth, deceit, and survival.
Starring Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, the film follows Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat (Warsi), who takes on what begins as a missing woman’s case but soon unravels into a disturbing web of secrets and suspected trafficking. Parallelly, a tender romance between Meera and Sameer (Kumar), a professor, adds depth and emotional contrast to the tense storyline.
Directed by Akshay Shere and set against the haunting backdrop of Robertsganj, Uttar Pradesh, Bhagwat brings together two powerhouse performers in a high-stakes clash of conviction and deception.
Kaveri Das, Business Head, Hindi ZEE5, called Bhagwat “a thriller as emotionally layered as it is suspenseful,” praising Warsi’s intensity and Kumar’s unexpected new avatar. Priyanka Chaudhary of Jio Studios emphasized the film’s rooted, thought-provoking storytelling, while producer Harman Baweja highlighted its exploration of “the grey areas of morality where love, deception, and justice collide.”
