The AI infrastructure company plans a 5,00,000 sq ft AI Superpark in Sarjapura as the first phase of a larger city-scale testbed aimed at advancing agentic and physical AI systems in real-world environments.
Bengaluru-headquartered Bharat1.AI has unveiled plans to develop a “Humanity-First AI City” in the Karnataka capital, positioning it as a large-scale research and validation ecosystem for next-generation artificial intelligence systems.
The announcement was made at the India AI Summit, where the company outlined its vision of building urban-scale infrastructure to responsibly develop and deploy agentic and physical AI technologies. The first phase of the initiative will materialise through the B1 AI Superpark, a 5,00,000 square foot research and innovation campus coming up in Sarjapura, Bengaluru.
B1 AI Superpark to host 10,000 researchers
Designed as a plug-and-play AI research hub, the Superpark aims to host more than 10,000 researchers, engineers and innovators from startups, universities, research laboratories and enterprises by the end of the year. The facility will support AI model training, fine-tuning and inference at scale, backed by high-density compute and advanced simulation infrastructure.
The campus is being developed in collaboration with leading academic and research institutions, including the Airawat Research Foundation and the Wadhwani School of AI at IIT Kanpur, the Safety, Privacy & AI Research Centre (SPARC) at IISc, BITS Pilani, iSPIRT Foundation and IIT Ropar.
Umakant Soni, Co-founder and CEO of Bharat1.AI, described the initiative as a necessary evolution in AI development. He emphasised that as intelligent systems move beyond laboratories into everyday life, they must be rigorously tested in complex, real-world environments to ensure reliability and accountability.
Building a city-scale AI testbed
Phase one of the project will focus on developing and stress-testing foundational intelligence frameworks under controlled yet realistic conditions. The company plans to create open, city-scale world models built on structured multimodal datasets and establish validation mechanisms for agentic and physical AI before large-scale deployment. It also intends to explore anchoring AI systems to digitised identity frameworks such as Aadhaar.
With connectivity of up to 400 Gbps and sub-millisecond latency to major AI cloud platforms, the Superpark is engineered to handle large-scale experimentation without performance bottlenecks.
Over the next three years, Bharat1.AI plans to expand the initiative beyond the Superpark into a broader AI City testbed, enabling Indian and global organisations to trial AI systems in dynamic urban environments. Backed by founders Umakant Soni, Subhashis Banerjee and Sireesh Kupendra, the company aims to position India as a key architect of responsible AI innovation for emerging economies.
