Ciena powers Microscan’s optical network expansion for Digital India

By adopting Ciena’s programmable coherent optics and modular OTN switching with an intelligent control plane, Microscan aims to deliver flexible, high-performance services with dynamic provisioning, advanced protection, and Data Center Interconnect solutions for enterprise clients

Microscan, a prominent fiber infrastructure provider and pan-India National Long Distance (NLD) service operator, is set to deploy Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme (WL5e) coherent optical solution to significantly boost the capacity, resilience, and efficiency of its optical transport network.

By integrating Ciena’s advanced programmable coherent optics and modular OTN switching with an intelligent control plane, Microscan aims to deliver more flexible and robust services. The upgrade will support dynamic service provisioning and enhanced protection and restoration capabilities, including a high-performance Data Center Interconnect (DCI) offering tailored for enterprise clients.

The move is part of Microscan’s broader strategy to modernize its network infrastructure and deliver scalable, high-speed connectivity solutions across India.

Boosting network intelligence and scale

Microscan will also adopt Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite (NCS) to streamline and automate network planning, provisioning, and assurance tasks. Enhancing its infrastructure further, Microscan will deploy Ciena’s 6500 compact 1.2T OTN switching with WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400G coherent pluggable transceivers—delivering notable space and power savings. To ensure consistent performance and reliability, Ciena’s Services team will oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the upgraded network.
