Indian water-technology startup DigitalPaani has raised ₹22 crore in a fresh funding round led by Navam Capital, strengthening investor interest in technology-led solutions for one of India’s most critical challenges—efficient and sustainable water management.
The funding is expected to help DigitalPaani expand its technology platform, strengthen operations and accelerate deployment across industrial and commercial customers. The company focuses on improving the performance of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure through software, automation and intelligent operational management.
Water infrastructure remains a major challenge for Indian businesses. Treatment facilities can suffer from inconsistent operations, limited visibility, manpower constraints and inefficient maintenance. At the same time, industries face increasing pressure to reduce freshwater consumption, improve wastewater reuse and meet environmental requirements.
DigitalPaani addresses this gap by creating a digital intelligence layer around treatment plants. Its platform can help operators monitor plant performance, identify operational problems and improve decision-making, potentially enabling facilities to operate more reliably while reducing wastage and unnecessary costs.
The investment also reflects a larger opportunity emerging around climate technology and industrial sustainability. As urbanisation and industrialisation accelerate, water availability is becoming both an environmental and business-continuity issue. Companies can no longer treat water management simply as a utility expense; it is increasingly becoming a strategic operational risk.
For investors, startups such as DigitalPaani represent an attractive intersection of technology, sustainability and critical infrastructure. Unlike purely consumer-focused digital businesses, water-tech companies address physical infrastructure where measurable improvements in efficiency can translate into financial and environmental benefits.
The ₹22-crore round could therefore mark more than another startup funding milestone. India needs scalable technologies capable of making existing infrastructure significantly smarter. If DigitalPaani can successfully combine data, automation and operational intelligence, it could help transform wastewater from a compliance burden into a reusable resource—demonstrating how deep-tech innovation can address India’s water challenge while creating a scalable business opportunity.
