The approved projects, including four by Kaynes Circuits India and others by SRF, Syrma Strategic Electronics, and Ascent Circuits, will span three states, generate ₹365.59 billion in output, and create over 5,100 jobs to strengthen India’s electronics ecosystem
The Government of India has cleared the first batch of seven major projects worth over ₹55 billion ($625 million) to strengthen domestic production of electronic components and reduce import dependency.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the approved proposals include four projects from Kaynes Circuits India, focused on multi-layer and high-density printed circuit boards (PCBs), camera modules, and laminates. Additional approvals have been granted to SRF, Syrma Strategic Electronics, and Ascent Circuits, marking a major milestone in India’s push toward electronics self-reliance.
Strengthening the electronics ecosystem
The projects, located across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, are expected to generate electronic components worth approximately ₹365.59 billion and create more than 5,100 direct jobs. The government’s broader aim is to develop a resilient supply chain that supports critical sectors such as defence, telecommunications, electric mobility, and renewable energy.
These initiatives fall under India’s ongoing drive to promote domestic manufacturing through incentive-based schemes like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) programs and the India Semiconductor Mission. The government hopes these measures will attract both global and local investors to scale up component manufacturing within the country.
Driving global competitiveness
The approval comes amid India’s growing role as an alternative electronics manufacturing hub, with global giants such as Apple and Google diversifying production away from China. Industry analysts view the latest approvals as a significant step toward achieving the government’s target of making India a global manufacturing powerhouse.
According to brokerage firm Motilal Oswal, India’s electronics manufacturing sector is projected to reach ₹6 trillion by FY2027, up from ₹1.46 trillion in FY2022, driven by sustained policy support and increasing global demand.
