Through Tiranga Ek, Kahaniyaan Anek, JioHotstar reimagines its interface with a Tricolour-inspired splash screen, inviting audiences to discover stories that capture India’s courage, resilience, and cultural pride this Independence Day
In celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day, JioHotstar has announced Operation Tiranga, a nationwide initiative celebrating the country’s spirit of freedom through a specially curated line-up of stories. The platform will offer full-day free access to its entire content library on August 15, aiming to make entertainment more inclusive and accessible across India.
The campaign, themed Tiranga Ek, Kahaniyaan Anek (One Flag, Many Stories), seeks to reflect the values, emotions, and ideals embodied by the Indian Tricolour. As part of the celebration, the JioHotstar interface will feature a redesigned splash screen inspired by the national flag, welcoming users to a selection of narratives that pay homage to India’s courage, resilience, and heritage.
Symbolism through storytelling
The curated showcase draws inspiration from the three colours of the flag. Saffron is represented through films highlighting courage and covert heroism, including Take Off, Madras Cafe, and IB71. White reflects sacrifice and resilience in titles such as Salakaar, Neerja, Mangal Pandey: The Rising, and Chandrashekar. Green celebrates cultural pride with stories like Sarzameen, Kesari 2, and Airlift.
According to JioHotstar, these selections form a cohesive narrative of India’s diverse identity, offering viewers both entertainment and reflection on the nation’s values.
Breaking barriers to access
Minakshi Achan, Head – Brand & Creative at JioStar, said, “JioHotstar has always believed in unlocking infinite possibilities through storytelling, giving viewers the freedom to choose what they watch, when they watch, and how they engage with it. Operation Tiranga is an extension of that philosophy — a celebration of Independence Day that removes barriers to access and brings stories of courage, resilience, and identity to everyone.”
Nationwide engagement and partnerships
The campaign will be promoted across multiple platforms, including in-app takeovers, primetime TV spots, outdoor advertising, and social media activations. Brand collaborations and a partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will add an educational dimension by promoting awareness of the national flag code and etiquette.
Through Operation Tiranga, JioHotstar combines entertainment with national pride, offering viewers a unique opportunity to celebrate the occasion with stories that inspire and unite. From blockbuster originals to acclaimed global titles, the platform reiterates its commitment to making quality content more accessible to audiences across languages, cultures, and devices.
