‘Made in India’ Aakash tablet, which is currently the cheapest tablet in the world, will be soon available for Rs 1,900. According to a latest statement released by Telecom and IT Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal, Aakash tablet’s prices will soon see a decline and may reach to $35 (Rs, 1,900 approx). This way, the tablet price will come down to $35 from $49.
At the Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) organised by Telecom Equipment and Service Export Promotion Council, Sibal said, “Aakash is a tablet which at the moment costs $49. It will come down to $35 very soon. It has all the amenities of any modern tablet”.
The Minister further added that the next version of the tablet will also be power-packed with Skype. It is worth noticing here that Skype is an application developed by Microsoft, used for making voice calls using Internet connection. It does not necessarily require a SIM.
To the reader’s surprise, the minister has also said the cost will further decline, if the Government of India allows setting up manufacturing unit in the country.
Let’s hope to get discounted Aakash 2 tablets soon in the Indian markets.
