If Chinese technology can identify vulnerabilities in software by breaking encryption methods like RSA and AES, then Anthropic should excel in this area as well. According to CEO Dario Amodei, Mythos has already uncovered nearly 300 vulnerabilities in Firefox and potentially tens of thousands more in other applications. The urgency is clear; while leading AI labs are one to three months behind Mythos, Chinese models lag six to twelve months. Amodei believes there is limited time to address these vulnerabilities. Jamie Dimon echoed this sentiment, stating that cyber threats are the biggest risk, exacerbated by advancements in AI.
During a financial services event in New York, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon issued a warning about significant AI-related security challenges looming on the horizon.
Encryption is evolving from a static defense to a high-velocity battlefield. While AES remains the standard for bulk data efficiency and RSA secures key exchanges, these mathematical layers are no longer impenetrable. Adversarial models and quantum-assisted techniques, previously leveraged by state-sponsored actors, have paved the way for autonomous AI like Anthropic’s Mythos to bypass encryption by identifying deep-seated vulnerabilities within the application layer itself.
Additionally, they discovered that state-linked Chinese actors were utilizing Claude to target U.S. tech companies. Amodei emphasized caution in announcing vulnerabilities, noting that only a small fraction have been fixed, which could lead to exploitation by malicious actors.
To address these challenges, Anthropic aims to optimize its strategy with Mythos within the next six to twelve months, as Chinese AI models are predicted to catch up in that timeframe. Amodei expressed confidence that addressing these vulnerabilities could improve their security posture, especially by using Mythos to develop inherently more secure code. This cybersecurity focus is part of a broader push into financial services for the company.
In collaboration with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs, Anthropic is launching an AI-native enterprise services firm to assist midmarket companies in integrating Claude into their operations. This partnership aims to scale Anthropic’s reach, addressing the demand for AI solutions in enterprises where the company currently lacks adequate resources. Amodei highlighted that the demand for Claude surpasses any single delivery model, necessitating strong partnerships with systems integrators.
Anthropic has also introduced ten ready-to-use agent templates for the financial sector, targeting labor-intensive tasks like KYC screening and month-end processes. These templates allow for rapid deployment, enabling teams to implement Claude in days instead of months. Furthermore, the recent integration with Microsoft Office tools enhances workflow efficiency, allowing seamless transitions between applications.
As the threat has shifted from "cracking the code" to "reasoning through the logic." By entering the application’s core, Mythos exposes thousands of software flaws that render traditional encryption moot. To counter this, organizations must move beyond software-based AES/RSA toward Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and hardware-level security. Embedding defense directly into the silicon ensures that even if an AI discovers a code vulnerability, the underlying data remains shielded from machine-speed exploitation.
