Apple to Launch Revamped Siri With AI-Powered App Intents and Advanced Voice Control in Spring 2026
2025-08-11
Apple is reportedly preparing to roll out its biggest Siri upgrade yet, introducing an AI-powered App Intents feature that could transform how users interact with apps through voice commands. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the long-anticipated Siri overhaul—originally planned for the iOS 18 update cycle—is now expected to debut in Spring 2026, potentially alongside the iOS 26.4 update.
The App Intents framework will allow developers to integrate deeper app functionalities directly into system-level experiences like Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, and Widgets. With the integration of Apple Intelligence, Siri will be able to intelligently suggest in-app actions, enabling users to find, edit, and share photos, post comments on Instagram, shop online, or even log in to services without touching their screens. Essentially, Siri will be able to operate apps with human-like precision, navigating within their own interfaces.
Apple is reportedly testing the revamped Siri with major third-party apps, including Amazon, Facebook, Temu, Threads, Uber, WhatsApp, and YouTube, as well as select mobile games. However, for security reasons, the company is considering restricting certain voice commands in banking and health apps to prevent errors during sensitive operations.
This overhaul marks Apple’s renewed push to catch up in the AI assistant race, competing against Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Microsoft Copilot. With natural language processing improvements and expanded app-level control, Siri could become a far more capable and proactive digital assistant. If Apple sticks to its release pattern, the iOS 26.4 update—and with it, the next-gen Siri with App Intents—could roll out around April 2026, promising a major leap forward in hands-free iPhone and iPad interaction.
